What Is Halal Food?

Halal food can be defined as Muslim food that meets the following conditions:

  • It has been prepared and handled according to Shariah law (Kuran)
  • All ingredients of the food are halal
  • All utensils and equipment that are used in its preparation are halal. Halal utensils include but are not limited to meat cleavers, shariff knives, meat griddles, rice mills, and meat mincers.
  • It is well cooked by using only halal method. This include using boiling water for boiling foodstuffs except for some very specific cases where use of alcohol is prescribed.
  • it does not contain anything that are prohibited. It must not contain beef, pork, alcohol, non-halal ingredients, or animals’ parts.
  • It is well maintained to be free of impurities and/or contamination.
  • It has no use of preservatives and food additives.
